Summary
The Fair Business Practices Act (FBPA) protects consumers and legitimate business enterprises from unfair or deceptive practices in the conduct of any trade or commerce in part or wholly in the state. Section 391 indicates that the FBPA should be liberally construed in order to promote this purpose, and section 392 defines key terms for determining when an intentional violation of the Act has occurred. Section 393 provides examples of unfair or deceptive practices which are considered unlawful when employed in consumer transactions.
