Research, Inc. ("IFAR") Privacy Policy
IFAR respects your privacy. The following privacy policy (the "Privacy Policy") governs and limits IFAR’s use of information you may provide through its Website, and, along with IFAR’s Terms and Conditions, governs the relationship between you and IFAR with respect to your use of IFAR’s Website.
1. Information Collection and Use
IFAR does not collect personally identifiable information about you beyond what you provide to us. Any personally identifiable information that you do provide to IFAR – such as your name, e-mail address, mailing address, and/or other information concerning your identity – shall be collected, used, and retained by IFAR solely in order to correspond and/or transact with you, or for IFAR’s internal purposes only. Except as provided in Section 2 below, no personally identifiable information that you provide to IFAR shall be shared with, or sold or rented to, third parties without your consent.
IFAR may from time to time aggregate personally identifying information that you have provided to IFAR and use such aggregated information solely for IFAR’s internal purposes, including the generation of statistics, the development of marketing plans, and the evaluation of IFAR’s programs, Website, or Website usage.
IFAR may also from time to time collect, store or accumulate certain non-personally identifiable information concerning the use of this Website, such as information regarding what types of inquiries are most common. IFAR may share or transfer such non-personally identifiable information with or to our affiliates, funders and/or partners.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, IFAR reserves the right to disclose any information, including personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information, as necessary in order to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request.
2. Third Parties
IFAR periodically retains and/or contracts with third parties, including data analysis firms, lawyers and/or law firms, customer support companies, webhosting companies, and fulfillment companies (e.g., companies that coordinate mailings of publications), to perform functions on IFAR’s behalf. IFAR may provide such third parties with personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information as necessary for those third parties to perform their functions for IFAR. Those third parties shall be required to keep such information confidential.
3. Information Automatically Collected
Like most other websites, IFAR’s Website uses cookies (small pieces of information stored by your computer’s browser on its hard drive) to identify your computer when you visit. The cookie does not personally identify the user; it merely identifies the computer with which the user accesses the Site. Please note: IFAR’s Art Law & Cultural Property Database will not function properly if cookies are blocked.
IFAR may also automatically collect certain technical information from your computer each time you request a page during a visit to the Website. This information, which the server retains only temporarily, may include your numerical Internet Protocol (IP) address, your computer's operating system, your browser software type and the Internet address of any referring websites, if any. Circumstances in which IFAR temporarily logs standard technical information may include conducting site testing, diagnosis of technical problems, and defending against attacks on the site.
IFAR’s Website may also use other technical methods to track visitor usage. IFAR, or a third party authorized by IFAR (in accordance with Section 2, above) to collect such information, may use these technical methods to analyze the traffic patterns on our Website, such as the frequency with which our users visit various parts of the Website.
