Definitions
'National cultural heritage'—cultural property created or discovered on national territory. (LPCH, Art. 2)
'Cultural property'—any work produced by human agency and any natural phenomenon of a scientific, historic, artistic or religious nature which bears witness to a certain stage in the development of a civilization or of the natural world and whose protection is in the public interest. Specific cultural property is to be registered by sub-decree. (LPCH, Art. 4)
Classification is the registration of public or private cultural property which has already been inventoried and whose protection is in the public interest from a scientific, historical, artistic or religious point of view. (LPCH, Art. 11)
Registry
Listing in the inventory consists of keeping a record of public and private cultural property which, while not necessarily requiring immediate classification, is nonetheless of some importance from a scientific, historical, artistic or religious point of view. (LPCH, Art. 7)
The competent authority shall draw up a list of cultural property classified at the end of each year. That list, organized by province and published in an official Gazette, shall indicate:
(1) the nature of the cultural property classified;
(2) the place where it is located;
(3) the surnames and first names of its owner;
(4) the date of classification.(LPCH, Art. 18)
